When it comes to researching Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare supplement plans, you have a lot of options available. But how can you know which plan is right for you?
The good news is that Blue Cross Blue Shield provides health insurance services across all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, so no matter where you live in the U.S., there’s a BCBS to serve your healthcare needs. You may even be surprised to learn that one in three Americans is insured with Blue Cross Blue Shield, making them a solid and reliable choice for your Medicare supplement plan.
As one of the largest health insurers in the nation, BCBS offers numerous benefits to its customers, including those enrolled in a BCBS Medicare supplement plan. With popular options, including BCBS Plan F and BCBS Plan G, you’ll also enjoy many of the same benefits as other Medicare supplement plans, including:
Medigap is another term for a Medicare supplement plan — in essence, it fills in the “gaps” left behind by traditional Medicare.
Keep in mind that all Medigap plans require you to continue paying your Medicare Part A and Part B premiums. This is in addition to the premium you’ll pay for your Medigap coverage. Some BCBS Medigap plans also have deductibles and depending on the service you have done, you may also be subject to a copay or co-insurance percentage depending on your plan.
There are different tiers of Medicare supplement plans beyond what Medicare itself covers. Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B form what’s known as “Original Medicare.” There’s also Medicare Part D which covers some of the cost of prescription drugs. It’s a lot to try and understand, and much of the terminology and “which plan covers what” can be confusing, which is why The Health Exchange Agency is here to help you make sense of it all.
BCBS Plan F is a very popular Medigap plan because it provides high levels of coverage. It covers Part A hospital and hospice co-insurance, costs or co-payments. It also covers your Part B co-insurance or co-payment and perhaps more importantly, your Part A and Part B deductible. It also takes care of Part B excess charges and the co-insurance cost of part A skilled nursing care.
If you’re traveling overseas or to another country, you’ll also be glad to know that Part F covers the cost of a foreign travel emergency. It’s easy to see that with all of these benefits, why a BCBS Plan F Medicare supplement plan is so popular!
A BCBS Plan G offers many of the same benefits as Plan F, except it does not cover your Part B deductible. But Plan G also comes at a more affordable price point, saving you money every month.
